Myanmar Global Investment Forum Held in Naypyidaw

Author: Myo Sandar :The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Myanmar Investment Commission and Hong Kong based Euromoney Institutional Investor (Asia) jointly organized Myanmar Global Investment Forum at Myanmar International Convention Center - MICC 2 on September 10-11, 2019.
Local and foreign investors, government officials, bankers, and economists attended the forum. The big topics that were discussed during the two-day event were the prospects for investment in Myanmar, and the government’s policy on relaxing the banking sector, financial sector, and the insurance sector.
Local business leaders attended the forum along with many government officials. People like U Soe Win, Union Minister of the Ministry of Planning Finance; U Thant Sin Maung, Union Minister of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy; Dr. Than Myint, Union Minister of the Ministry of Commerce; Naing Thet Lwiin, Union Minister of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs; and Mr. Tony Shale, CEO of Euromoney Institutional Investor (Asia).
The panel discussions covered various sectors such as retail, manufacturing, tourism, housing development, agriculture, ICT-Digital Transformation, infrastructure, energy, debt and equity market, and small and medium enterprises.
States and regions in the country also showcased investment opportunities in their respective areas as well as local products.
