Myanmar Meets with China to Raise Rice Import Quota
AUTHOR: SWE LEI MON Myanmar will sign an MoU with China for rice trade, the request to increase the rice import quota to China by as much as 400,000 tons of rice per year, according to the statement of Myanmar Rice Federation. The delegation led by Union Minister for Planning and Finance, U Soe Win, and officials from Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) attended the 2nd China Myanmar Economic Corridor Forum held in Yunnan, China from February 18 to 23.

Government Warns Tender Winners of Blacklisting for Breach of Contract

Myanmar Estimates K7.2 Trillion Budget Deficit
AUTHOR: SWE LEI MON Myanmar is suffering from severe budget deficits every single year, and estimates indicate that the budget deficit in Fiscal Year 2019 will be around K7.2 trillion according to the Ministry of Planning and Finance. During the six-month transitional fiscal year from April 2018 to October 2018, Myanmar recorded a budget deficit of K4.2 trillion, said U Maung Maung Win, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Finance, at the Union Parliament.

Myanmar, Vietnam Trade Reaches Nearly 200 mln USD in First Quarter Of FY 2018-19
AUTHOR: XINHUA Bilateral trade between Myanmar and Vietnam reached 196 million U.S. dollars as of December in the present fiscal year 2018-2019 which started in October last year, according to the figures from the Commerce Ministry on Saturday. Government Urges Foreigners To Register with Local Authorities
AUTHOR: TIN MG OO One way a foreigner can be found in violation of the law is by failing to register within 24 hours of arriving in the country, or by overstaying their visa. Foreigners that break the law by overstaying their visa are fined at the port of entry (airport or land border checkpoint) when they leave the country. A fine of $3 dollars per day will be charged for an overstay of less than 90 days, and a fine of $5 per day for anything 90 days and over.

Telecom Operators Allowed to Sell Only 2 SIM Cards Per ID Card
AUTHOR: SWE LEI MON Telecom operators are not allowed to sell more than two SIM cards to an individual starting from April 1. The purpose of the change is to protect the privacy of users, according to the Department of Post and Telecommunications under Ministry of Transport and Communications. The Ministry has ordered all operators not to sell more than two SIM cards per identity card, and the Ministry will ban all other sim cards from that telecom from being registered under a single ID card. The reason is twofold.

MDA Requests Government to Finalize Apartment Bill
AUTHOR: HMONE LAY Myanmar Developer Association (MDA) has made a request for government to prepare the Apartment Bill as soon as possible in order to protect apartment buyers. The law will allow for two things.
